Harry Edward Logue, MD, DFAPA, founded the Brookwood Psychiatric Department at Birmingham Hospital (1974) and was its Chairman for over a decade (1974-1984). During his tenure, he grew the Brookwood Psychiatric Department to a 96-bed psychiatric department. Prior to launching AMHS, Dr. Logue served as a Director of the Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit at Baptist Medical Center Princeton in Birmingham, AL. He co-founded the American Behavioral Benefits Managers, Inc., a noted mental health benefits company serving patients in all 50 states and Canada. In 1983, he was an Honorary Assistant Attorney General of the State of Alabama. He also received the 1996 Mental Health Professional of the Year Award from the Birmingham Alliance for the Mentally Ill, and the 1998 Exemplary Psychiatrist Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Harry Edward Logue, MD, DFAPA, attended the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, and received his medical degree in 1963. Then, he served his internship at the University Hospital in Augusta, GA. After practicing family medicine for the next five years (1964-1969), he completed a three-year residency training in psychiatry at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia (1969-1972). Dr. Logue received board certification in psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He remains an active member of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, the American Psychiatric Association, the Jefferson County Medical Association, and the Alabama Psychiatric Physicians Association.
